BW Men’s Lacrosse Pulls Away from Purple Raiders in a Conference Victory

BEREA, Ohio—The Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets men’s lacrosse team hosted an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup against the University of Mount Union and pulled off a victory in a tight game throughout by a score of a 14-9 on the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium.

BW Leaders (8-3, 4-0 OAC)

  • Junior All-OAC attacker/midfielder Kyler Byerly (Pittsburgh. Pa./North Allegheny) led the squad with three goals and two assists.
  • Sophomore All-OAC attacker Jake Nanosky (Medina) added three goals and two assists.
  • Sophomore midfielder Hunter Boehm (Delware/Olentangy) scored a career-best three goals.
  • Junior All-OAC goalkeeper Joe Storner (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) made nine saves.

Mount Union Leaders (5-4, 1-2 OAC) 

  • Senior All-OAC midfielder Alek Kungle led with five goals.
  • Junior All-OAC goalkeeper Kyle Reihner made 16 saves.

1st Quarter (BW 6-3)

  • 12:35 Freshman midfielder Grant Dunmire scores the first goal of the game (Mount 1-0)
  • 11:28 Boehm scores his first goal of the game to tie the game up (Tied 1-1)
  • 8:49 Byerly scores his first goal of the game off a junior All-OAC midfielder Jonas Aquilla (Westlake/St. Edward) pass (BW 2-1)
  • 8:18 Nanosky quickly scores his first goal of the game (BW 3-1)
  • 6:57 Nanosky tacks on another goal (BW 4-1)
  • 6:38 Junior midfielder Eric Bechtel (Westlake) quickly adds his first goal of the game with an assist from Byerly (BW 5-1)

The Yellow Jackets return to play on Saturday, April 9 as they travel to New Concord, Ohio to face OAC opponent Muskingum University. The match will start at 1 p.m. on the North Turf Field.
