Bay High School Varsity Baseball Defeats Lakewood High School

The Bay Rockets traveled to Lakewood this afternoon to start Great Lakes Conference play.  In the cross divisional game, the Rockets beat Lakewood 6-4.  Taking the mound was senior Jay Rinehart.  Rinehart threw 5 innings giving up 3 runs on 6 hits while striking out 3 and walking 3.  Coming in for the save was sophomore Jeff Meade.  Meade did not surrender an earned run in 2 innnings of work, striking out 3 and walking 1.

Offensively, the Rockets were lead by Rinehart and junior Evan Bottone, each having 2 hits in the game and Rinehart an RBI double in the first inning.  Bottone also had 3 steals in the game.  Senior Connor Bozak also had 2 stolen bases after he drew 2 free bases to get on.  Junior Ryan Nolan also added a hit going 1-4 on the day.  Meade also had a SAC fly RBI in the 6th to help score the 6th run.

The Rockets improve their record to 1-3 (1-0 GLC).  The Rockets take to the road this Thursday against Holy Name at Kurtz Park.  First pitch is 4:30PM.
