The Padua Lady Bruins hosted the Berea Midpark Titans in a girls Varsity Basketball matchup Wednesday night.  The Berea team established dominance early on and often. Junior Guard Lauren Yee had a series of trips to the basket and made Padua pay early.  Yee is a tough and aggressive player.  She has relentless determination to be the best.

Another player who had a nice first quarter was #55 Junior Guard Kendal Braaten.  She may be listed as a guard, but much of her game is playing tough inside and under the bucket.  Braaten can also shoot pretty well.  She hit a three and a couple two’s for a seven point quarter.

Yee had five buckets for a 10 point quarter.  The only player for the Padua Squad that had a very nice quarter was Bruin Junior Guard Alyssa Weber who started with a beautiful lay up early on, and then a couple buckets and some free throws for a 7 point quarter.  The score at the end of the first was Berea  Midpark 20, Padua 11.

In the second quarter Berea continued their dominance outscoring the Home team 21 to 8.  Very aggressive defense with the Lady Titans cutting off the passing Lanes and creating steals for easy buckets.  One such play in the quarter had the Titans Braaten stealing the ball and going coast to coast for a beautiful lay up.

Six different Titans had points in the second.  Freshman Guard Lauren Lantow had a couple field goals including one for three points.  Senior Kierney Murphy contributed with a nice three point shot.  The score was 41 to 19 at the half.

In the third quarter Padua only had four points.  Freshman Guard Audrey Butler had one basket for the Bruins, and Senior Guard Arianna Pomirleanu had one basket as well.

For the Berea Midpark Titans it was the Braaten show once again.   She had a two early in the third, and shortly after that a three way deep on the left wing.  A couple lay ups and she had herself an eleven point quarter.  Murphy had another nice shot from three point range and the route was on.  The score at the end of the third was 61 to 23.

In the fourth quarter Padua had their best quarter scoring 14 points. Junior Guard Taylor Brousek had a basket, and a few other Lady Bruins had some points, but the blowout was on and this Wednesday night was owned by the Berea Midpark Titans.

Senior Titan Guard Lexi Rump had a nice three in the quarter.  One of the biggest reasons the Titan team is so good is solid coaching and the players buying into the scheme.  The Titans team is very vocal on the court and has great communication during the game.

Their players are constantly reminding each other of where to be and what play they’re running.  They also are excellent passers, and have great ball movement.  The final score was BMP 74, Padua 37.

  1. Midpark came out swinging. They took it to a young Padua team . Well coached and this team plays together . I knew Padua was in for a long night we lost two in a row and just got embarrassed vs Olmsted Falls by 30 so I figured our coach was gonna take it out on Padua . Good luck to both teams the rest of the way !
