Kent, Ohio – The Kent Roosevelt Rough Riders defeated visiting  Revere, 72-55, in a Suburban League contest Tuesday night.

Revere made it rain early and often in the first quarter. They knocked down four three-pointers, three coming from Baron Bania. Nate Kenna knocked down the other. Thanks to their long distance shots, the Minutemen led 18-10 after the first.

But Kent Roosevelt responded in turn in the second quarter.

Blake Green dialed up three times from long range and connected each time. These shots brought the Rough Riders back in the game.

Kent Roosevelt also relied on the services of forward Seth Bowser. He had six points in the second quarter, and Kevin Ina had a three-pointer midway through to give the Riders their first lead.

After the Minutemen tied the score, Bowser had a go-ahead putback with 1:40 left in the second. This gave Kent Roosevelt the lead at 26-24.

He would add another put-back before the buzzer to increase the Rider lead to 30-27 at the half.

Baskets by Jayden Reynolds, Blake Green, and Seth Bowser helped to pad the lead for the Riders.

Revere, however, connected from long range four times in the third to stay in the game. Junior guard Baron Bania connected thrice, and Chris Muntean also connected. His trey cut the Minutemen deficit to 39-36 halfway through the third.

Blake Green countered with a three of his own two possessions later to increase the Rider lead.

The Riders led 53-43 at the end of the third quarter. Seth Bowser had ten points and was fed constantly on the inside.

In the fourth quarter, Roosevelt padded their lead to 59-43, thanks to a Kevin Ina three and a Gavin Leslie floater.

Revere would cut their deficit to 64-53 late in the game, but that was as close as they would get. A Desmeal Leigh (YSU football commit) offensive rebound and put-back iced the game on the following possession.

The Riders had three players in double figures, led by senior forward Seth Bowser’s 19 points. Senior guard Blake Green had 15 points, and senior guard Kevin Ina had 13.

Kent Roosevelt (5-4, 3-2 Suburban American) hosts Cuyahoga Falls to continue conference play.

Revere (3-8, 0-5 Suburban American) hosts Aurora to continue Suburban League American play. The Minutemen also had three players in double figures. They were led by junior guard Baron Bania’s 19 points, followed by Chris Muntean’s 13, and Carson Banks’ 12.
