Hudson tops John Adams, 66-52, in Hudson Holiday Classic championship game

Hudson, Ohio – The Hudson Explorers defeated John Adams, 66-52, in the championship game of the Hudson Holiday Classic.

The Explorers jumped out to an early lead thanks to baskets from Michael Steel and Tino Yli-Junnila. They led 19-12 after the first quarter.

The Rebels would cut their deficit to three thanks to the efforts of Rahim Stubbfield and James Davis, who knocked down buckets to keep the Rebels in the game.

However, the Explorers would pull away and lead by double digits at the halftime break.

They would pull ahead, 56-38, thanks to the efforts of Yli-Junnila. He had ten points in the third quarter. The Explorers made it hold up from there.

Sophomore guard Tino Yli-Junnila had 26 points to pace all scorers. Junior forward Michael Steel added 13 for the Explorers.

Hudson improves to 2-3 and travels to Nordonia to open up Suburban League play Tuesday night.

John Adams guard senior guard James Davis had 13 points to pace the Rebels, who had three in double figures. Junior guard Que-Ni Miller also had 13. Junior forward Rahim Stubbfield had ten points for the Rebels. Senior forward Tristen Greer had nine points (all in the second half).

The Rebels fall to 3-4 and travel to Cleveland JFK for a Senate League matchup next Friday night.
