When you look up the word “heart” in the dictionary, you will see a picture of the Burning River Buckets. Just an amazing night that saw a short-handed Buckets team overcome everything to absolutely roll to a 132-106 victory. This Buckets team was missing 4 players tonight, had to rely on a recent signing and a player coach. Despite every obstacle they showed you why they are ranked in the nations top 25 in just their first year as a franchise.
The Pro’s would jump out to a quick 6-0 lead in the games early moments, powered by 4 quick ones from Julian Thompson. The Buckets would answer back with a 9-3 run to tie it at 9 just four minutes into the game. The rest of the quarter was dominated by the Buckets as Cole Krizancic got red hot from deep, draining four long balls before the quarter was over. Also heating up was Dylan Contento with 12 points while Medley and Ryan had 4 each to help the buckets out to a 35-26 lead.
The Buckets did not sit on the lead in the second quarter and came out gunning to open the second quarter. Despite the short bench, they didn’t let their foot off the gas and kept attacking the hoop. The Buckets would stretch the lead to 55-39 with 6:42 to play in the second quarter.
Again, the Buckets would attack the boards, kick out the misses for another shot, and most times, make it! The recipe for any winning team is to continue to put up shots even when the first ones don’t seem to be falling. This team is scrappy and resilient and they sure as Hell showed it tonight!
By the time we reached halftime, the Buckets had built a 78-52 lead on the Pro’s and had 3 players already in double digit scoring. They would go on to cruise from there for the impressive 132-106 victory.
