It’s almost impossible to go from my car, to the field for pregame audio and photo’s, to the press box, without smelling something good coming from the concession stand. Mix in the fact that most times I’m coming straight from my day job, (GASP, I DO HAVE A DAY JOB), and I haven’t aten since about 12 that day, the hunger bug can strike! Some press boxes provide food for the media, most don’t. This could lead to some very long nights.
A few years back I stumbled upon perhaps the best pulled pork sandwiches on planet Earth. Despite being in Avon Lake, they were not coming from the Old Bubba Q’s, oh no, not at all, rather the concession stand! The first time I ever tasted that savory greatness was October of 2018, the last time Avon Lake defeated Avon in the Battle of the Silver Rail Trophy.
While Jack Mikolich and Konnor Riggs game winning drive was something they won’t forget about that night, all I could think about was that delicious pulled pork. Ever since, I have made it my mission to have a pulled pork sandwich every single time I’m there! At only $3, it is cannot miss!
Last year, as bad as 2020 sucked, perhaps one major highlight was Mrs. Lidyard and Mrs. Duesler sneaking some pulled pork sandwiches up to the box. I will never forget that huge gesture of kindness and compassion. Such a special bunch of people!
Coming up next, week two I will be in Olmsted Falls to lay my teeth into that tasty grilled booster burger!
If you have a stadium and food item I should try, feel free to leave it in the comment section below, and we will see if it makes this seasons list of fame!
