No one was sure how the new look North Olmsted Eagle attack would look this year. After one game however, they look deadly! It was a night of explosive plays and several starters stepping up big in all three phases of the game in a 52-7 win over North Ridgeville.
Bryson Burgess had a game he will be telling his grandchildren about one day. Burgess exploded for 170 yards on only 10 carries, while also scoring three times on the night. Burgess had touchdown rumbles of 43 and 63 yards in a North Olmsted Eagle blitzkrieg of offense.
Perhaps no one shined brighter than Jared Kelly who had a performance for the ages. Kelley, scored 3 times to put the game out of reach. Kelley helped the Eagles pull away big in the first half with 55-yard punt return for a touchdown, then a 33-yard interception return for a touchdown followed by a 15-yard touchdown pitch and catch from first year starting quarterback Xavier Balson.
Xavier Balson had big shoes to fill and appears to be off to a great start. After a slow first quarter for both squads, it was a Balson 22-yard touchdown jaunt that broke the ice. Balson has been working hard and learning from his coaches and teammates around him. Keep an eye out for young Xavier to be a diamond in the rough tis season.
The Eagles protected well, played incredible defense and special teams, and moved the ball when they had too. Eagle football is back in North Olmsted!
HECK YA!!
