Hacksaw Jim Duggan was so rugged and tough, he was a man’s man! He didn’t play a character on television, he played himself! The reason why the fans embraced him so much is because of the love he had for his country, and the fact that he represented the blue-collar workers all over this great country.
With his blue tights, blue boots and trusty 2 x 4, it didn’t matter that Duggan never came off the top rope or was a “technical wrestler”, he was as tough as nails and the fans bought in to everything he did. He didn’t need a fancy gimmick or flashy outfit, he just needed to be himself with the volume turned way up, and that is why it worked!
A lot of modern fans may not even realize the stellar career Duggan had in the Mid-South under Bill Watts in classic feuds with Ted Dibase and others. Dugan would go on to become a staple of WWF television in the late 80’s and early 90’s.
Tonight, at Kee On Sports, we salute this “tough guy” because he deserves it! It didn’t matter if it was cancer, or Andre The Giant, there was never a challenge to tall for this man to overcome. The entire time he fought battle after battle, he did it for the Good Old USA!
Join us in one more hoooooooooooooooo! As we salute Hacksaw Jim Duggan.
