From the files of, “Can you believe this?” The world-famous Cleveland Metroparks Zoo “Asian Lantern Festival” has been carbon copied by the Pittsburgh Zoo. Not only that, but in promoting their first ever festival, Pittsburgh went as far to rip off pictures of the Cleveland Zoo and promote it as their own.
Per Fox 8 News, The Metroparks’ filing claims visitors throughout Ohio and western Pennsylvania associated the name with the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, and that in 2020, visitors came from more than 100 cities in Pennsylvania. The suit claims that using the same name is likely to cause confusion between the two events.
To me, this sounds like a case for the “Columbus Zoo Kids”, or as I like to call them “The Super Tots”. From Cranes, to just plain Birds, they know how to get to the bottom of every issue. And we might even learn something in the process.
My advice for Pittsburgh, is when you hear the chant of “We are the Tots, the Super Super Tots”, you better just take down the Lantern Display and call it a day, because those little rug rats don’t mess around.
