Tonight, is the WWE Elimination Chamber PPV from the “Thunderdome”. It’s not the final stop on the road to WrestleMania however, as of now there is one more PPV scheduled for March called Fastlane. With that being the case, they still have plenty of time and wiggle room to play with.
Here is what we see coming out of tonight’s event.
Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler successfully defend their Tag Championship over Sasha Bank and Bianca Belair. The women’s tag titles rarely get defended on major PPV’s, so Fastlane makes sense to sneak in a match. I foresee this simply being a vehicle to start the feud with Banks and Belair that will head into Mania.
Cesaro will win the Smackdown Elimination Chamber match only to fall short to Roman Reigns right after. This will set up the other WrestleMania Main event, between Edge and Roman. They have been pushing Cesaro pretty hard as of late, so it wouldn’t shock me if he wins the Chamber portion but there is no way he defeats Reigns.
Expect to see Bobby Lashley lose his United States title to Matt Riddle tonight. For whatever reason, the WWE creative team is sold on Riddle and I see the next level of his push holding gold.
There is no chance in hell that Drew McIntrye loses his WWE Championship in the chamber tonight. If he does, the only logical solution would be Orton setting up yet another match between the two at WrestleMania. I just don’t see it however, as I don’t see the Miz successfully cashing in afterwards either.
With Lacey Evans out of the Raw Womens Championship match, I’d expect her new “bestie” Peyton Royce to step up in a losing effort against Asuka. This is all just buying time until Mania when Lynch is back to challenge Asuka for the strap.
