NXT Takeover Vengeance Preview & Predictions

NXT Takeover Vengeance is tonight from the Capitol Center and our breakdown is brought to you by these fine sponsors.

Match – Io Sharia defends her Women’s Championship vs Toni Storm & Mercedes Martinez

Summary – It seems strange that they went completely away from the Raquel Gonzalez Io Sharia feud that appeared to be a sure thing after War Games with the latter getting pinned by Gonzalez. Taking it in a different direction is just something I didn’t see coming and can’t understand why.  To me, the ultimate goal for Io Sharia now turns to a showdown with Xia Li down the road.

Prediction – It seems like a no brainer that Io Sharia retains here

Match – Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez vs Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart for the Dusty Cup

Summary – The popularity behind Moon and Blackheart is undeniable.  While I myself don’t care very much for either, and I actually prefer Gonzalez and Kai.  To me, I see this as good versus evil and NXT will paint the picture of good winning. It just makes more sense for them to have a Blackheart Shotzi team challenge Nia Jax & Baszler.

Prediction – Blackheart & Moon

Match – MSK vs Grizzled Young Veterans for the Dusty Cup

Summary – MSK has come on strong, but I just can’t reason with them getting pushed to the moon this early.  That being said, the Grizzled Young Veterans seem promised to take the next step and not lose in the finals two straight years.

Prediction – Grizzled Young Veterans

Match – Johnny Gargano defends his NA Championship versus Kushida

Summary – The appear to be pushing Kushida to the main event pretty much on arrival.  He is very talented and should have a very promising run with NXT.  I do not see his title aspirations coming true yet however as I have this strange feeling that Leon Ruff turns on him because he is bitter about losing the Dusty Cup.

Match – NXT World Championship Finn Balor defends against Pete Dunne

Summary – This may be an early favorite for match of the year as all signs point to instant classic.  Dunne will make a tremendous accounting for himself, but will it be enough to lift the title from Balor?

Despite who wins, it’s a sure thing that Karion Kross shows up to challenge the winner. With that being said, it would be easier for him to challenge the man who took his title without ever beating him.

Prediction – Finn Balor
