The Avon Eagles came back from a 43-35 fourth quarter deficit, to battle back and defeat Midview 61 – 57 in thrilling overtime fashion.  With the game tied at 52 heading into overtime, the Eagles got 4 points from Alyssa Peganoff, 3 from Alyssa McLellon and 1 each from Brooke Laub and Ryann Clapham to bring the Eagles their second straight SWC victory.

For Midview, it was another heartbreaking loss as they have been very tough this season, but have lost a few nail biters along the way.  The Lady Middies were paced by the outstanding Senior Izzy Patarini with 18.  Mya Difranco had 12 while Autumn Vance brought in 11 and Grace Seymour had 6.  Emma Barnes also chipped in with 4 as Maddie Huge had 2.

For the Eagles it was another big night from their sharp shooting junior Abby Liber who put up 15.  Alyssa McLellon had 12 big points while senior leader Catie Geiger scored 10.  Not to be ignored was Alyssa Peganoff and Grace Santee with 8 points each.

It was a close game as the Lady Middies led after one 13-12 and then it was tied at the half 26 apiece.  Midview used a big third quarter from Vance, Patarini and Difranco who all had 5 each in the quarter to help build the lead to 8 heading into the final quarter.

In the fourth, the Eagles showed both the heart and skill that should take them far this season.  Leading the comeback was Liber with 8 in the quarter.  Also coming up big in that quarter was Catie Geiger with 5 and Alyssa McLellon with 3.

What helped the Eagles the most and is a stat that too many times goes overlooked was their solid free throw shooting.  In the fourth quarter when they needed every point the most, the Eagles went 5 of 7, and then in overtime they shot 5 for 10 from the line.

Both teams will continue SWC play this upcoming week before the Christmas break.
