Avon, OH – It was all Avon Eagles tonight with a convincing 72-33 victory over The Amherst Comets. It was a total team effort for the Eagles as 11 players scored in this one. It was a solid bounce back victory for the Eagles after a tough opener earlier this week in Olmsted Falls. As I said the other night however, this team is loaded with talent and tonight they showed that they can score from top to bottom.
They were led by Abby Liber with 19. Also coming up big off the bench was Kiley Williams and Alyssa McLellon with 10 each. Brooke Laub had 9 with 5 coming from the line. Alyssa Peganoff buried a three pointer while Anna Fitch had two points, Ryann Clapham had 4, Natalie Santoro finished with 5. It was Molly Drenik with a point, Grace Santee with 4 and Senior leader Catie Geiger with 5.
Amherst will have their work cut out for them this season with so many under classmen as intracule parts of the team. Coach Jay runs a great system however and it won’t take long to get things clicking.
For the Comets, it was Jules Gedling the Sophomore sharp shooter pacing the Comets with 10 big points. Also scoring well was Freshman Kristen Kelley with 8 and Freshman Kayla Ferancy with 6. Freshman Ava Darmos had 4 while fellow Freshman Bradyn Silvasy also had 4. Peyton Roberts, also a Freshman, had a foul shot point.
Avon took a commanding lead after one by a score of 19-3. Abby Liber went off in the second quarter with 8 of her game high 19 point in the frame to help the Eagles build a 38-15 lead at halftime. The Eagles would soar from there to bring home SWC victory number one on the young season. Avon did a great job tonight cutting down on the fouls.
Congrats to both teams and good luck this season!
