The much-anticipated announcement from the OHSAA has been made and it is has sent everyone scrambling.
The OHSAA said today they support and want all member schools that feel safe enough, to show up tomorrow for practice and get ready to play this fall.
Sounds good right? Sadly, it’s not that simple as schools in Parma, North Olmsted, Fairview and many others have already pulled out. Over 30 schools have already announced they are pulling and cancelling all fall sports. Expect that number to be over 75 within the next 24 hours.
What that does next for scheduling, and everything else that goes into planning a season is anyone’s guess.
On page two of this article you will see the entire press release / email sent to all member schools earlier today by the OHSAA outlining the plan.
Yesterday the Cuyahoga County Board of Health advised home/ virtual school for all students for the first 9 weeks of the school year. They also advised no sports. Many youth leagues have already cancelled and it appears that High School is not that far behind.
