Eye vs Calvillo Round by Round Breakdown
Round one was fairly even as both fighters stayed on their feet and neither went for a takedown. It was all strikes and Eye was slightly the more active fighter. However, Eye needs to keep that head moving as she left it stationary and almost got caught with a vicious head kick if placed better.
Round two was dominated by Calvillo as she had no issues with the knee’s of Eye, took her down and grinded out top positioning for the rest of the round. Winning it with ease as Eye couldn’t do much to get back on her feet despite not taking a ton of damage on the ground.
Round Three wasn’t a great round by any stretch but once again, a late takedown by Calvillo earned her the round and more than likely a 2-1 lead.
Round Four could have went either way as Jessica Eye got taken down early but eventually battled back to get back to her feet and I feel win the round. 2-2 after four on my scorecard.
Round Five was the championship round in my mind as I had it 2-2 coming in. Eye did everything she could but Cynthia Calvillo did more. It was much closer than the 49-46 card two judges had it.

KO was the flavor of the night on tonight’s undercard with 3 straight knockouts to open the ESPN Undercard portion of the card. It was knockout city and it didn’t take long to get there as all 3 fights ended in less than a minute. In fact, it was 59 seconds, 32 seconds and just 22 seconds to get it done.
Christian Aguilera over Anthony Ivy by TKO in 59 explosive seconds.
Tyson Nam ended a two-fight losing streak with a brutal 32 second knockout over Zarrukh Adashev.
The women did it best yet again as Julia Avila destroyed Gina Mazany with strikes of all kind to put her away in 22 seconds and improve to 8-1 and 2-0 in the UFC.
The undercard would finally settle down as Merab Dvalishvili outclassed Gustavo Lopez with ease by scores of 30-26, 30-26 and 30 – 25 in a fight that was never close.
The quick finishes started again on the main card when Mariya Agapova looked absolutely amazing in an win over Hannah Cifers with a rear naked choke at the 2:42 mark of the first round. Agapova earned herself another main card fight with that performance. Cifers is falling fast with her third straight defeat, dropping to 10-6.
I remember covering Jordan Espinosa in Alliance MMA in March of 2018, he looked good that night but looked great tonight. Espinosa outworked and outclassed Mark De La Rosa as he cruised to a 30-27 win across the board. The win gets Espinosa back on the winning track after a two-fight skid.
It was Andre Fili getting back on the winning side of things with a razor thin split decision victory over Charles Jourdain. For Fili, he now improves to 21-7 overall and a winner in three of his last four fights. Fili has been with the UFC since 2013 and has a few Performance of the Night awards during that stretch.
It was another razor thin close decision following that fight as this time it was Charles Rosa skirting by Kevin Aguilar. In the end I firmly believe the judges made the right decision as Rosa did more than enough to win this fight in every area. Not sure how a third judge could disagree. Rosa improved to 13-4 and is hanging around the lightweight picture.
In night of wild first round finishes, few if any felt better than watching Marvin Vettori take apart Karl Roberson. Vettori was rightfully upset at Roberson who pulled out of their fight a few weeks back after missing weight.
Then it was Roberson missing weight again this weekend, this time by 4 pounds. Vettori had every right to be angry and took it out on Roberson tonight by choking him out in a dominant effort.
For Marvin Vettori the good times continue to roll as this is now his third straight victory. He improves 15-4-1 while Roberson falls to 9-3 with all three of his losses coming by choke out.
