How The WWE Botched The Career Of Nikola Bogojevic

Nikola Bogojevic, also known as “Otis” in the WWE is on the biggest run of his career.  A beautiful on-screen girlfriend in Mandy Rose and he currently holds The Money In The Bank Briefcase.

That case will guarantee him a shot at either World Title anytime he decides to cash it in.  It appears as if the WWE has booked him perfectly as the fan base is solidly around him and he is the underdog for the masses.

The problem is that he is not an underdog, far from it.  People look at his 5 foot 10 inch, 330 pound frame and instantly think he is some sort of “country bumpkin” who decided to try his luck at “wrasslin” one day.  But if you were to do any actual research on Nikola Bogojevic you would quickly find out how far-fetched that is.

Despite the run he is on, despite the popular fan reaction, the WWE creative team is booking him all wrong and here is why.  They are ignoring an incredible amateur wrestling career before turning to the world of Sports Entertainment.

He was the 2010 285lb undefeated WIAA State Champion.

He was a champion at the 2009 Greco-Roman junior Nationals.

Bogojevic won the 2009 Greco-Roman junior Nationals in his weight class.

He won the national title in the 2011 Junior Pan-American Games.

He won a bronze medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at the Pan-American Games in 2014.

He won the national title in Greco-Roman wrestling at the Junior Pan-American Games in 2011

Why ignore all of that, and book him to be some bumbling buffoon who relies on funny dance moves and luck to win matches?

The short-term booking looks predictable and tasteless.  You can almost guarantee he will find a way to blow his money in the bank chance.  Or quite frankly, Tucker will cost him it out of jealousy. This will cause Mandy Rose to leave him as the writing is on the wall for all of this, and then what?

In the end, the WWE had a chance to book him as the plus size Kurt Angle or the next Dusty Rhodes and it could have been revolutionary for the business.  They went the way of comedy and it will eventually run out of legs.

Enjoy Otis while it lasts, but it is just a shame to think about what they blew in the process of the short-term fix because Nikola Bogojevic the person deserved so much better!
