CLEVELAND BROWNS CONTENT BROUGHT TO YOU BY – https://keeonsports.com/sponsors/
The Browns overcame a 10-point fourth quarter deficit to score 13 straight points and hang on for the thrilling 20-17 win over Chicago. A game in which they were outplayed for the better half of 45 minutes until they finally snapped out of it. The dramatic win improved their overall record to 9-5, and an incredible 7-1 at home this season.
With wildcard contenders Cincinnati 8-6, Buffalo 8-6, Houston 8-6 and Indianapolis 8-6, all winning, this win becomes even bigger. Once again for Cleveland, they relied on defense to overcome next to no running game, and 3 turnovers.
In fact, Chicago scored 17 points, however one touchdown was a pick six and the other touchdown was set up by an interception that they returned to inside of the Browns 10-yard line. The banged-up defense was as nasty as ever with hurries of Justin Fields all game long, despite only 3 official sacks.
Joe Flacco bounced back from the 3 interceptions to throw for 374 yards on 28 of 44 passing with 2 touchdown passes. For the first time since Baker Mayfield’s rookie year, the Browns appear to have more than a serviceable quarterback, but rather, a quarterback they can win big with.
Flacco’s top threats were once again Amari Cooper and David Njoku. Cooper brought in 4 catches for 109 yards and a 51 yard touchdown catch to tie the game at 17 with 3:18 left to play. David Njoku hauled in 10 catches for 104 yards and 2 touchdowns himself. He had several big catches on the game winning drive that led to the clutch Dustin Hopkins 34-yard field goal to win it.
However, despite all of that, this game was ugly, very ugly and the Cleveland Browns dodged some serious bullets to win it. How large were those bullets, and what almost scorched their chances?
