Just minutes away from the Westlake Rec Center, you will find a great little playground by the soccer and baseball fields. This is truly a hot spot for the youth and next dynamic athletes of Westlake to hone their skills. While the athletes on the fields are playing and practicing, the younger siblings and parents are having a fantastic time at the playground.
This Westlake gem was the site of stop 34 on the 2024 Summer Park Tour, and as usual, didn’t disappoint. Let’s get right to the grades.

Access to the park
Grade – B
Located in the heart of Westlake, right off Center Ridge Road, it is only minutes away from I90 and about a 5–10-minute drive from most of the surrounding suburbs. The only hiccup is if you are coming from Center Ridge, it is tough to find unless you know exactly where you to look. I mean this because it is down a long road and the small sign “Rec Center Drive” appears out of nowhere. If you’re not paying attention, you may and probably will miss it.
Things to do
Grade – B
There is plenty to do. It may not have the thrills of a zip line or some of the “fancier” things you will have at other parks, but it absolutely has everything your kid needs to have fun and stay occupied for hours. The attractions are safe, sturdy, and the parents have little to nothing to worry about here. A kid can be a kid.
Some of the highlights include 3 massive and spread-out playsets. Several sets of slides, monkey bars and a full swingset. Others include a large blue “climb on” thing, a Rockwall and net climb as well. Your child will love the challenges of the climbing obstacles in which this park offers plenty of. Including a giant hill, perfect for a race and some serious cardio!
Places for parents to sit.
Grade – A
A half dozen park benches, two picnic table areas and a large pavilion area. Some shade, but plenty of options. All of which are within ear shot and close sight of your children if you’re a parent who wants to sit for a bit and take a load off. They even half a lending library if you want to swap out a book.
Bathroom Situation
Grade – B
Indoor plumbing is always a plus and this park has it. It is a bit disgusting however once you go in, the only drawback. It doesn’t appear to be on the city of Westlake’s daily cleaning schedule, but not awful either. I’ll take it over no bathroom, or a porta potty.
Cleanliness
Grade – B
Again, for as many people who decide to cram into this park on nightly basis, it is still pretty clean. Not much to complain about at all here. A nice park well kept up.
Best part of the park
It is a fun park, a safe park, kept up well and easy to get to. I’ll say it again, plenty of challenges for kids to try out, and not a baby park by any stretch but at the same time, it has those bucket swings in case you do have a toddler with you.
Would I recommend?
Yes! It is a nice playground folks, go check it out!
