2024 Park Review: Troy Fields In Avon Lake

***SPECIAL MESSAGE TO THE RESIDENTS OF AVON LAKE BEFORE WE GET TO THE PARK REVIEW THIS TIME ***

When I created Kee On Sports in 2018, my biggest goal was to create a company that covered as many schools as possible. At the same time, NEVER charging the parents or student body to read about their student athletes.  I figured if I got a small business in each city there was a school to sponsor the website, it would never be a problem.   In the six years of coverage, no school has come remotely close to receiving the free coverage Avon Lake has.

Sadly, in the six years we have covered Avon Lake athletics, we have received next to no sponsorship support from Avon Lake commerce.  That being said, for six years Kee On Sports has spent thousands of dollars to cover Avon Lake athletics with written content, photos and even live broadcasts of games with $0 ROI on our expense to do so.  This cannot continue.

We don’t want that to end, and we don’t want to charge a single parent, alumni, classmate or ANYONE behind a ridiculous paywall like other sites and news prints do.  We want to keep it free for you. We cannot however without an Avon Lake business helping out.

Or, if we get enough donations in the name of Avon Lake that would match the cost of a sponsorship.  Thus, there is still time to avoid this drastic measure from taking place. If you would like to help our coverage of Avon Lake athletics avoid being placed behind a paywall, you can donate at the below link.

Let’s say 10 parents each donated $100 each, it can be avoided with something as simple as that.

Thank you.

Stop 21 of the McKee Family Summer Park Tour swung back around to Avon Lake this Saturday and enjoyed Troy Fields playground during the soccer tournament going on.  Despite the rain, we had a great time.

About the park

Tucked away behind Troy Intermediate school in Avon Lake, it may not be well known, but still a nice little distraction for the kiddo’s while the older siblings play soccer on the four fields behind the giant school as well.

Location

237 Belmar Blvd, Avon Lake, OH 44012

Access to the Park

Not far from Lake Road, this gem can sneak up on you if you are not paying attention while on Belmar, but once you find it, it will provide a nice time.  There is also plenty of parking on the North End in front of the actual school.

Things to do

Large net wall to climb on and conquer

Double glider that my children loved

Large and curvy monkey bar set

Giant Rock Wall to climb, it almost reminded me of a mini version of American Gladiators.

10 wide swing set for big kids

Places to sit

Two park benches located right in the playground area.  Not much shade, but will still get the job done if you need to get off your feet for a bit.

Ground

Wood chipped mulch

Bathroom

Porta Potty

Best part of the park

We’ve been to a over 80 parks in the last 3 summers, and this is the only one with gliders and a large rock wall.  Good stuff!
