Year in and year out, the SWC continues to be the most exciting conference in the OHSAA. We love covering them at Kee On Sports and have once again, made them our top priority with every single game covered since week one.
In fact, if you go back to week one, there have been 36 games played with an SWC team involved. 24 the first three weeks, 12 the past three weeks. We have personally in the press box and sidelines to cover 35 of 36 of them.
I’d wager, no other outlet can say that, 35 of 36. Let’s get to the rankings, but before we do, let’s talk about a few of the bigger things that have already happened and will be happening soon.
North Ridgeville started off 4-0, with 3 of those wins coming out of conference as they represented the SWC very well. In fact, 2 of the 3 wins for North Ridgeville out of conference, came with fourth quarter comeback dramatics.
Avon defeated Medina in one of the greatest games in OHSAA history only to lose to Glenville the very next week at home. They then rebounded from that to look incredible in their Silver Rail Rivalry game with Avon Lake.
Speaking of the Shoremen, they dominated the first three weeks of the season, barely letting any team even see the scoreboard. They have rebounded from their loss with two big performances over Berea-Midpark, which was a come from behind win on the road, and then a sizable win over Midview at home.
The Titans have also looked good, as they are a few special teams mishaps from being 4-2 right now. Even so, their defensive is very much improved from years past, and the running back wide out combination of Josh Medina and Hudson Devins, have them in every game!
Is this the year that Olmsted Falls takes that next step and gets past Avon. Is this the year it finally belongs to them alone at the top? Their only loss this season is to two-time defending state champion Chardon. A game they barely lost. With Rocco Conti running behind the incredible line of Dominic Rivera, Danny Reiser, Luke Ventimiglia, Colin Simon and Andy Voisinet, 1500 yards is not out of the question for that young man.
This Friday night will be a massive one as Olmsted Falls hosts Avon and North Ridgeville hosts Elyria. A lot of things may look different by the time we reach Saturday morning. But in the meantime, here how the rankings stand as of tonight.
Amazing as usual
