2022 SWC High School Football Preview

Amherst Steele Comets

2021 record  0-10

2021 Summary – Tyler Brezina and Ty Weatherspoon graduated in the spring of 21 and the Comets felt the effects in the fall by going 0-10.  Torre Weatherspoon did a great job to keep the Comets in some of the early games, but it just wasn’t to be.  The Comets lost by an average of 27.5 points per game last year.

2022 look ahead – You can just ask the 2017 Cleveland Browns, there is only one way to go, and that is up!  All joking aside, the Comets have always been above average to good since I started covering them in 2015.  Last season shocked me, and I look forward to seeing how they rebound.

Coach Fritz has these goals for this team this season, “Believe in one another. Represent our community and compete fearlessly every single week.”

Returning starters include

QB Christian Heckmann 6′ 200 Senior / C Joey Brooks 5’10 210 Jr. / G Caden Henry 6’5 330 Sr. / T & DL Braden Carpenter 6’4 235 Sr. WR Cameron Gendics sr. 6′ 185 / WR Eli Solak Soph. 6’2 200 / TE Mason Fisher Jr. 6′ 195 / DL Ross Auvil Jr. 5’10 210 / DE Carter Poulton Jr. 6’2 225 / LB Ryan Auvil Jr. 5’10 195.

  1. Dude if you are hoping for DVDs to return you are out of date. DVDs are a thing of the past. Look at your walmart how the DVD section is nowhere the size it was in the mid 2000s

  2. Avon Lake last 3 years went 8-2,8-2, and 7-4 (despite losing Q, RB and WR at times)….that’s not “average”
