Sixth Women of the Year
Maggie Barnes of Midview
In a world of sports where size, speed and strength mean so much, Maggie Barnes reminds everyone that toughness needs to be accounted for as well. The starting five for the Middies’ is loaded, but Barnes comes off that bench and lights a spark each and every time.
As tough as it is for opponents to deal with Olivia DiFranco, Grace Seymour, Grace Milano, Mary Meng and Erica Baldoza it doesn’t get any easier to deal with when Barnes checks in. She is instant energy and a team player!
Milano is the only senior on this team, and Olivia DiFranco is only a sophomore. It is crazy to think just how good this team is going to become! The sky is the limit for coach McNamara-Cole and the Middies.
Natalie Santoro of Avon
She is the kind of athlete you want on your team. To think that she is the first girl off the bench, shows you how deep this Avon Eagle team was this year. Santoro keeps getting better and better and should be a force next season!
Head Coach Meghan Larrick had this to say about Santoro, “Natalie has truly been a pleasure to coach. She is a fierce competitor who is always bettering those around her. Natalie was a spark for our team this year through her strong physical play and great basketball IQ.
Natalie is an excellent teammate who sacrificed so much to make our team better. Natalie is truly deserving of this award. We are so proud of you Nat! ”
