2022 SWC Girls Basketball Year End Awards

Warrior Award

Payton Palcisko of North Ridgeville

Never has a team had to deal with such heartbreak and trauma that North Ridgeville has had to deal with this year. At the forefront was the passing of young David Palcisko.  The community has rallied around this amazing family as they endure the tragedy.

Payton has the heart of a warrior and shows it every time she plays.  This conference has so many excellent guards for her to have to cover on nightly basis.  It’s loaded, but Payton takes that Warrior heart and goes for it.

Payton may be small in stature, but she is a giant in heart and warrior spirit. She carries with her the spirit of an entire community every time she steps on the court.

Head coach of the Rangers Amy Esser had this to say,

“The ability of Payton to cope and overcome everything she has dealt with throughout the past few months is nothing short of inspiring.

She is the definition of Warrior.  She could have easily taken time off or hung it up but instead brought everything she had this year. She was consistently challenged and had to play against some of the best players in the area as our lockdown defender. I can’t say enough about her and what she means to our team. The stat sheet doesn’t always tell the full story of a teams success on a given night.”
