Team of the Year
Olmsted Falls
A coach that preaches defense on a team with All Stars who could score at any moment. Teammates who cheer them on and energy for 32 minutes every night. They had 1 team take them deep into the fourth quarter this year in the opening week, other than that, they controlled the SWC.
When North Ridgeville gave them a run back in December, Falls remained composed and came back with a dominant second half of the third quarter on. They don’t flinch, they just keep moving forward.
This team has not lost a regular season SWC game since January 2020 and it took a buzzer beater to do it. Bottom line, one regular season conference loss in three years is unheard of, and the last time they weren’t dominant in the SWC, wearing masks to anything outside of a costume party was unheard of. It’s been that long!
Coach Eaton had this to share about his team, “ this truly is a total team. These players play for our community, school and most of all, each other.”
As much as I agree with coach that this is truly a total team, I couldn’t resist asking about Lauren Noernberg who is often one of the smaller players on the team and court, but more often than not shows you the spirit and fight that this team is known for. Coach shared this about Lauren, “What makes Lauren so tough is her willingness to compete, she doesn’t hesitate to draw charges, take on taller players and she never shies away from the big moment.”
