Comeback Player of the Year
Laney Rumancik of North Ridgeville
After a big 9th grade year filled with special moments and plenty of growth, Rumancik was sidelined her entire Sophomore year with injury. Rumancik came back as a force this season! She routinely draws the biggest and toughest player for her defensive assignment and handles it well.
She has worked out in the offseason and is as strong as it gets. She is also a fierce three pointer shooter and can sink it from the corner if left open.
Rumancik also holds the distinct Kee On Sports honor of being the first player in any sport I’ve called, to make me laugh uncontrollably on a broadcast by simply smiling and waving as I was trying to call the game.
We are so proud of you Laney, keep up the good work and never lose that smile and love of playing the game!
Coach Amy Esser had this to say about her Ranger, ”
“Laney’s determination to come back this season after tearing her ACL, Meniscus, and MCL was an amazing accomplishment in itself. She made herself stronger, worked on her game, and put the hours in the gym and rehab.
More importantly, throughout the season she listened to her body and constantly continued rehabbing and getting heathier. The second half of the season she gained confidence and started to really emerge as a true threat on the court both from three range and the defensive end having to guard some of the major posts in the conference. “
