2021 SWC Girls Basketball Year End Awards

Sophomore of the Year

Paige Kohler of Olmsted Falls

One perk of working in the media is getting to go every single game for free.  Heck, pre-rona days, some places would even give us free food. Paige Kohler is the kind of player I would PAY TO WATCH PLAY!  Not only that, I’d pay double off of a scalper if I had to.  She’s amazing and perhaps the most fun player to watch I’ve ever seen play at the high school level. She has left me speechless on the broadcast more times than I can count.

While other players are good, she is great and makes it look easy at times.  I’ve seen her hit more three pointers from NBA range, then I’ve seen some pro’s make them.  She can cross you over and go behind her back with any pass she wants to make.  This “kid” has it!  If I could have named two MVP’s it would have been Abby and Paige.  She is right there!

She reminds me of Allen Iverson.  When I spoke to her last year she told me her favorite player was Kobe Bryant, and I understand that, but her game rivals Iverson.  I wouldn’t want try and cover her, I’d end up with broken ankles.  She is that damn good! She is the most talented Sophomore I have ever seen play.

On top of all of that, she doesn’t turn the ball over.  Typically, when a player is called on to do so much, they won’t play defense and they will turn it over on offense.  She plays tight defense and also protects the ball. The fact that she is only in the 10th grade is down right scary. And, her teammates LOVE HER!

Head coach Jordan Eaton had this to say about Paige “Paige locks in on getting better everyday. Great player, better teammate. “

    2. What a great way to honor your dad, Don. Who truly is a great man. I’m lucky to have the privilege to know him. I’m also privileged to know the award recipient Allison Milligan as I have had the opportunity to coach her in another sport she excels in – volleyball. Congratulations Allison.
      Thanks Vince.
