Freshman of the Year
Grace Kingery of North Ridgeville
Who saw this coming this past November? North Ridgeville was heading into a season where their top player last year Leia Smith had graduated and one of their best players coming back, Laney Rumancik was lost for their year. We knew that Daylan Baker and Maddy Rosado were talented enough to lead, but who would pick up the scoring left behind by Laney & Leia?
Enter, Grace Kingery! This fantastic freshman absolutely lit it up this season from long range. The Rangers were never out of a game if Kingery was lurking near the three-point line. She played solid defense as well and could also score at will with an incredible driving jumper. It is almost scary to think she is only a Freshman. She will continue to grow and get better.
I spoke with head coach Amy Esser who had this to say, “Grace is one of the most humble; selfless kids I’ve ever coached. She’d be the first to say that her success is because of her teammates. It’s a reflection of her character and the mark of a great athlete.
She is something special for sure! She is the last one to leave the gym and usually the one to call and ask to get in the gyms on her days off. I’m very proud to be her coach but most importantly proud of who she is and her dedication to the player and teammate she wants to be. She has a great future ahead of her! “
Vince,
With my my niece playing on North Ridgeville Basketball and limited access to tickets, I always look forward to your coverage of the games.
Thank you for your time and efforts to make the 2020/21 season that much better.
J. Kingery
Beautiful way to honor your father, Don McKee! He is an amazing man, father and grandfather. This is a proud moment for you and him. Congratulations to you both.
We can not thank you enough for covering our girls’ talents and supporting them! Prayers to your dad and family!!
What a great way to honor your dad, Don. Who truly is a great man. I’m lucky to have the privilege to know him. I’m also privileged to know the award recipient Allison Milligan as I have had the opportunity to coach her in another sport she excels in – volleyball. Congratulations Allison.
Thanks Vince.
I just recently learned of KEEonSports and feel I have missed so much!! Your coverage is wonderful and your humor great! So glad I have 2 more grand daughters coming up to high school in the future. Although this season had it problems with COVID, you have kept things informative and interesting. Thank you!
This is wonderful. You do such a great job of showcasing the teams. Thank you!
