Most Improved Players of the Year
Co- Winners Kiley Boutin of Avon Lake, Gigi Redinger of Westlake, Daylan Baker & Maddy Rosado of North Ridgeville
Kiley Boutin was a force and a difference maker last year in Avon Lake games. I would notice it right away when she checked into games. This year, she took it to a whole new level. She was in tremendous shape and played like an animal near the boards. Her improvement in just one season, jumped off the page!
Her teammate Emma Knick had this to say about Kiley, ““Kiley Boutin, is the rebounding machine and one of the most hard-working kids that I’ve ever played with. She brings her all to every practice and game and never lets her team down. Kiley has always brought a spark of energy to our team and led by example. I’m humbled to have been a teammate of Kiley’s over the past several years.”
Assistant coach Ben Hodge has this to add about Kiley as well,
“Kiley Boutin worked hard in the off season to strengthen her post moves and got her body in great shape for her senior year. Kiley is a leader and has a contagious positive attitude that is infectious to her teammates and everyone around her.”
Gigi Redinger came off the bench last year, playing behind two really good guards in Abby Carrington and Gina Adams. This year she had her chance to start and lived up to the role. Gigi was smart with the ball, knew how to make the extra pass, guard the other team’s best perimeter player and picked up some of the scoring slack left behind. She was the ultimate team player.
Head Coach Cory Rojeck had this to say, “After not playing a ton of minutes the previous year, Gigi started all 18 games for us this year and played great. Her toughness and senior leadership played a huge role in our success this year.”
Daylan Baker had a fine sophomore season, peaking with a game winning shot in the playoffs. This year she was asked to carry on with a much bigger role and she did exactly that. Baker is a gamer if there ever was one and will continue to get better and better. Look for her to be one of the top players in the SWC next season. She is absolutely one to watch!
A lot of the same things can be said of her teammate, Maddy Rosado. It is not often you see two most improved players come from the same team, but Rosado and Baker both earned it.
It was a tremendous Senior season from Rosado, who like Baker, had to pick a lot of scoring slack left behind, and did exactly that. She needed to take her game to the next level for this team to succeed, and she did.
Coach Amy Esser had this to say about the duo
Vince,
With my my niece playing on North Ridgeville Basketball and limited access to tickets, I always look forward to your coverage of the games.
Thank you for your time and efforts to make the 2020/21 season that much better.

Beautiful way to honor your father, Don McKee! He is an amazing man, father and grandfather. This is a proud moment for you and him. Congratulations to you both.
We can not thank you enough for covering our girls’ talents and supporting them! Prayers to your dad and family!!
What a great way to honor your dad, Don. Who truly is a great man. I’m lucky to have the privilege to know him. I’m also privileged to know the award recipient Allison Milligan as I have had the opportunity to coach her in another sport she excels in – volleyball. Congratulations Allison.
Thanks Vince.
I just recently learned of KEEonSports and feel I have missed so much!! Your coverage is wonderful and your humor great! So glad I have 2 more grand daughters coming up to high school in the future. Although this season had it problems with COVID, you have kept things informative and interesting. Thank you!
