Olmsted Falls
Earlier this Spring, during the height of the quarantine, I made the effort to interview as many of the SWC girls’ basketball players as I could. I cannot remember a time when I had as much fun as I did when it came to interview the crew from Olmsted Falls. This is a bunch that truly gets it. They have chemistry like a team I have never seen before. That is why they win year in and year out, this bunch is special!
While graduating a talent like Danielle Stevens is never an easy thing to replace, this team is a serious threat to hoist a Championship banner once again this year! Paige Kohler was the Freshman of the Year and will only get better. It is scary to think she is only a Sophomore, by the time she is a Senior, she will be one of the best players in the state.
Another Sophomore to watch is defensive stopper Mia Kalich coming off the bench. Junior Sara Glover is another one to keep an eye this season as all signs point to her stepping up big in this lineup. They are just that deep.
Those three under classmen are good enough to have this team contend, but then when you factor in the Seniors coming back for one more run, this lineup becomes downright deadly. Those Seniors are led by Lauren Galaska, the outspoken leader of this bunch. She is well rounded and can score from anywhere. Allison Milligan is sneaky good, and can keep teams on their toes. There is not a shot that Grace Simon cannot hit. The combo of Simon with Kohler is as good as any team in the state!
Finally, head coach Jordan Eaton is one of the best I’ve ever seen. He has this team disciplined, sharp and ready at all times. They are extremely smart with the ball, don’t get in foul trouble very often and keep their composure in any situation.
If a team is not careful with the Lady Bulldogs, they will pay the price quickly and soundly. A fate worse then waking up to stray wild animals in your yard, or a bunch of plastic forks you have to remove one at a time. If you don’t know what that means, go back and listen to the interviews. I’ll say it again, this team is special!
There is so much talent in the ladies basketball and happy to see how much recognition was given to them! They are all superstars! Great job ladies! And great article Vince!
Can’t wait to watch our kids compete. Jim Lloyd, Olmsted Falls
