Avon Lake
The Shoregals may have graduated All State Sensation Arianna Negron along with the always steady Grace Dean, but they may be even better this year with who they have coming back. Emma Knick is a born leader and has not only the athletic toughness, but the mental toughness to get her team through any tough spot. Knick is an early contender for SWC player of the year.
The supporting cast around Knick is as solid as they come. Hailey Hodge can shoot daggers from beyond the arc with her eyes closed if she needs to. Incredible range out of Hodge. Kiley Boutin is instant energy anytime she checks in a game. Boutin also has the confidence of her teammates in her and a knack for being in the right spot at the right time around the ball.
Emily Yarham is always steady and a player her teammates can count on. Corey Knoneker is one of the best rebounders I have ever seen and knows how to use her length to her advantage. All in all the Shoregals have 7 returning Seniors on this very deep roster.
Don’t forget about Junior Kaylee Kuwalu who looks to leave her mark and Avon Lake athletics like her older brother Kai did as well. She is truly a diamond in the rough set to shine this year.
Many may feel it is a two team race this year with Avon & Olmsted Falls this season. I do not, as I see this conference being 5 or even 6 teams deep who can take it.
There is so much talent in the ladies basketball and happy to see how much recognition was given to them! They are all superstars! Great job ladies! And great article Vince!
Can’t wait to watch our kids compete. Jim Lloyd, Olmsted Falls
