10 Pro Sports Teams To Leave Town Since 1982

In the ever-changing world of sports, players, coaches and stadiums come and go.  Teams on the other hand, typically stay put for several decades if not centuries. However, that is not to say it doesn’t happen when a team leaves a city.  It’s rare, but it’s not unheard of.

In my lifetime spanning 1982-2021 thus far, I’ve actually seen some fantastic franchises leave town including my own Cleveland Browns in 1995.  I thought it would be fun to go back in the channels of my fandom and list the ones who have left town.

This does not include teams that never left, but simply changed their names such as The Washington Bullets becoming the Washington Wizards in 1997.  The Washington Redskins becoming the Washington Football Team, etc….
