While it seems like a forgone conclusion that Silver will be back, the return of Barnes remains a mystery. If you recall, he was the Karate Bad Boy that Silver & Kreese recruited to attempt to defeat Daniel in Part III.
Barnes will return working for Silver in an effort to sabotage the Daniel Johnny alliance. I foresee Daniel leaving town for an episode to handle dealership business back in Japan. Meanwhile, Barnes picks that exact time to show up and offer help to a frustrated Johnny who just received a large dollar offer from Silver to leave LaRusso.
Just like it was in Part III, Barnes and Silver will inflict more physical damage on the students then actually teach them, as they did with LaRusso, leaving them battered and broken. Eventually Daniel will return and wise Johnny up to the scheme at hand.
